MS HB1430

Amends Section 47-5-193 to explicitly prohibit possession of contraband within or upon the grounds of any jail, prison, or correctional facility, not just inside the facility itself

Prohibits correctional officers, employees, sheriffs' department staff, private facility workers, and all other persons from possessing or furnishing weapons, cell phones, SIM cards, chargers, and other contraband to offenders

Applies to all correctional facilities in Mississippi, including state prisons, county jails, and private correctional facilities

Makes it unlawful to take, attempt to take, or assist in taking prohibited items onto any property belonging to the Department of Corrections that is occupied or used by offenders
