Amends Section 97-37-3 of the Mississippi Code to require seized weapons be returned to the owner if charges are dismissed or the defendant is acquitted.

Weapons used in violation of firearm laws or in commission of crimes may be seized and introduced as evidence, with forfeiture ordered upon conviction.

Merchantable forfeited weapons may be sold at auction to federally licensed firearms dealers, with proceeds used to purchase bulletproof vests for the seizing law enforcement agency.

Applies to all law enforcement agencies, governmental entities, and political subdivisions in Mississippi.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
