Bureau of Fleet Management may offer public access to alternative fueling infrastructure (natural gas, electric, biodiesel, ethanol, hydrogen, etc.) owned by the Department of Finance and Administration in areas where such infrastructure is not readily available to the public.

Bureau of Fleet Management must cease allowing public access to state-owned alternative fueling infrastructure if a privately owned alternative fueling station locates within a five-mile radius of the state's infrastructure.

"Alternative fueling infrastructure" is defined as fill stations or charge stations for natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, ethanol, methanol, electricity, biodiesel, coal-derived liquid fuels, hydrogen, and biologically derived fuels.

Exempts state institutions of higher learning from the provisions of Section 25-1-77.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
