Amends Section 39-5-6 of the Mississippi Code to authorize the Board of Trustees of the Department of Archives and History to employ a Curator of the New Capitol Building.

Curator shall oversee care of the New Capitol Building and grounds to ensure long-term preservation, conservation and maintenance in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.

Curator shall coordinate with the Department of Finance and Administration and project professionals on repair, renovation and restoration plans; request quotations and permits; and manage projects from bid through completion.

Curator shall coordinate special state events at the New Capitol Building or grounds and serve as liaison to the House Clerk, Senate Secretary, Department of Finance and Administration, and other relevant agencies.

Effective date: July 1, 2012.
