First and second convictions for contributing to child neglect or delinquency are misdemeanors punishable by up to $1,000 fine and/or up to one year in jail.

Third or subsequent convictions become felonies punishable by up to $5,000 fine and/or up to five years imprisonment.

Prior convictions occurring more than five years before the current offense are disregarded when determining punishment level.

Knowingly permitting continuing physical or sexual abuse of a child is punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment and/or up to $10,000 fine.

Felonious abuse of a child (intentional burning, torture, or whipping causing serious bodily harm) requires minimum 10 years imprisonment; second or subsequent convictions require life imprisonment.
