Amends Section 37-13-61 of Mississippi Code to prohibit local school boards from establishing a school term opening date before the first Monday of September (Labor Day)

Permits school boards to continue setting the closing date of the school term and to operate beyond the minimum required number of school days

Requires school boards to satisfy the minimum number of instructional days prescribed under Section 37-13-63 when establishing opening and closing dates

Takes effect July 1, 2012
