Amends Section 47-5-138.1 of the Mississippi Code to allow offenders in trusty status to earn 30 days' sentence reduction for each 30 days of participation in approved programs, education, work projects, or special incentive programs.

Maintains existing eligibility restrictions: offenders sentenced to life imprisonment, habitual offenders, sex crime convicts, and those not meeting mandatory parole eligibility time for robbery, carjacking, or drive-by shooting remain ineligible.

Adds new ineligibility category: offenders convicted of trafficking in controlled substances under Section 41-29-139 are prohibited from earning trusty time allowances.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
