Identifies critical deficiencies in health and welfare measures, including ranking 1st in obesity, 1st in births to unwed mothers, and 50th in the Condition of Children Index and Annie E. Casey Foundation Kids Count Index.

Declares that reducing poverty among Mississippians is the most important priority in improving the state's overall economic and social rankings.

Calls for coordinated and collaborative efforts among all state agencies and public and private entities to focus on eradicating poverty in Mississippi.

Directs distribution of the resolution to heads of state agencies, major public and private entities, and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
