Recognizes her significant contributions as a devoted wife, mother, and community member, including her work overcoming racial violence in McComb, Mississippi during the early 1960s.

Acknowledges her adventurous spirit, including trekking the Himalaya Mountains in her 50s, sailing the Maldive Islands in her 60s, and frequent travels to France.

Expresses deepest sympathy to her surviving family members, including her daughter Melanie, son John Wyatt, adopted son Tommy Hughes, and five grandchildren.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to the Emmerich family and the Capitol Press Corps.
