Commends the Coldwater High School Cougars boys basketball team for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A State Championship with a 68-55 victory over Biggersville.

Recognizes senior Jakevin Farmer, who scored 15 points, grabbed 22 rebounds, blocked 7 shots, and was named Most Valuable Player of the championship game.

Honors Head Coach Wert Spiva, Jr., whose fifth championship (two boys titles in 2009 and 2012, plus three girls state titles) demonstrates sustained excellence in coaching both programs.

Notes the team finished the season with a 27-6 record, with four players scoring in double figures including junior Marcel Hunt who secured the victory with free throws and a layup.

Directs copies of the resolution to be distributed to Coach Spiva, Coldwater Principal Willie Brandon, the Tate County School District, and the Capitol Press Corps.
