Commends Woody Barnett, Athletic Director and Head Track Coach at Pearl High School, for receiving the 2011 State Athletic Director of the Year and Boys Track Coach of the Year awards from the Mississippi Association of Coaches

Pearl High School's track team went undefeated in 2011, won the Class 5A state championship, and took first place at the University of Southern Mississippi Invitational, Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans, and Mississippi State University Bulldog Invitational

Coach Barnett has served 34 years with Pearl Public School District, including 33 years as head coach of track and cross-country teams and 14 years as athletic director, during which his teams won 42 state championships

Barnett has been named track or cross-country coach of the year eight times by the Mississippi Association of Coaches, inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008, and named state coach of the year five times by the National Federation of High Schools Coaches Association
