Senate Bill 2307 Summary

• Authorizes every person to make homemade beer for personal, family, domestic, or household purposes free from state restrictions, similar to existing homemade wine provisions.

• Limits homemade beer production to 100 gallons per calendar year for households with one person over age 21, and 200 gallons for households with two or more persons over age 21.

• Permits transporting homemade beer from the household only for participation in bona fide exhibitions, contests, or competitions where homemade beer is tasted and judged; prohibits selling or offering homemade beer for sale under any circumstances.

• Amends Section 67-3-7 to clarify that transporting homemade beer as authorized in Section 67-3-11 is not unlawful, even in counties that have voted to prohibit commercial beer distribution.

• Amends Section 67-3-13 similarly to permit homemade beer transportation in counties that have prohibited commercial light wine and beer possession.

• Effective July 1, 2012.
