SB 2370 Summary

• Authorizes manufacture, transportation, storage, and possession of beer with alcoholic content exceeding 8% by weight if the beer is manufactured for legal sale in another state and transported outside Mississippi for retail sale.

• Permits brewers and manufacturers to keep beer exceeding 8% alcohol content on their premises when manufactured for legal sale in another state.

• Allows transportation of high-alcohol beer to another state for legal sale without violating state law, even in counties that have voted to prohibit beer sales.

• Excludes high-alcohol beer (over 8% by weight) legally manufactured in Mississippi for out-of-state sale from the definition of "alcoholic beverage" under state law.

• Effective date: July 1, 2012.
