Amends Section 39-5-6 of the Mississippi Code to authorize the Board of Trustees of the Department of Archives and History to employ a Curator of the New Capitol Building.

Curator shall oversee preservation, conservation, and maintenance of the New Capitol Building, historic furnishings, and grounds in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.

Curator duties include coordinating with the Department of Finance and Administration and project professionals on repair, renovation, and restoration plans; requesting quotations and permits; and maintaining contracts with project professionals.

Curator shall coordinate special state events at the New Capitol Building or grounds (excluding House and Senate chamber events) and serve as liaison among the House Clerk, Senate Secretary, Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Archives and History, and project professionals.

Effective date: July 1, 2012.
