Creates new offense of "child homicide" for manslaughter convictions where the perpetrator was over 21 years old and the victim was under 18 years old.

Maximum prison sentence for child homicide is 30 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Standard manslaughter penalties remain 2-20 years imprisonment in the Department of Corrections (or up to 1 year in county jail plus $500 minimum fine).

Effective date is July 1, 2012.
