Increases the permissible alcoholic content of beer from 5% by weight to 8% by weight in Mississippi, allowing sale of higher-alcohol craft beers

Maintains the definition of "light wine" at not more than 5% alcohol by weight, keeping it separate from the increased beer limit

Requires brewpubs to submit samples for testing to verify beer does not exceed 8% alcohol by weight and light wine does not exceed 5% by weight

Updates local option election procedures so ballots will specify "light wine of an alcoholic content of not more than five percent (5%) by weight and beer of an alcoholic content of not more than eight percent (8%) by weight"

Takes effect July 1, 2012
