Senate Bill 2911 Summary

• Amends Section 69-7-263 of the Mississippi Code to require egg marketing assessments be remitted to a foundation rather than retained by the State Treasury.

• Maintains the assessment rate of not more than 3 cents per case on all eggs produced in Mississippi or marketed within the state.

• Requires the Mississippi Egg Marketing Board to remit collected assessment funds to a foundation under terms and conditions the board deems necessary to ensure proper use for chapter purposes.

• Preserves existing provisions allowing egg producers to request refunds within 60 days of payment with proper documentation.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012.
