Recognizes Right Reverend Carolyn Tyler-Guidry of Jackson, Mississippi, as the 122nd Elected and Consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church upon her retirement.

Honors her as the first female appointed to a major leadership position in the A.M.E. Church and acknowledges her rise from humble beginnings to become a prominent religious and civic leader.

Highlights her accomplishments including establishing the first female itinerant Deacon position in the Southern California Annual Conference (1973), becoming the first female Presiding Elder in the Fifth Episcopal District, and acquiring significant assets for her districts including Episcopal residences and an Economic Development Foundation.

Acknowledges her educational credentials including a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary (2004), an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Payne Theological Seminary (2009), and her induction into the Martin Luther King Jr. International Board of Preachers of Morehouse College (2011).

Directs that the resolution be presented to Right Reverend Tyler-Guidry and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
