Commends the life and legacy of Dr. Cleveland Donald, Jr., a Civil Rights icon from Newton, Mississippi, who passed away on January 24, 2012, at age 65.

Recognizes Dr. Donald's civil rights activism, including his role as a Youth Field Coalition Leader for the NAACP and leadership of major protest marches during high school.

Honors his academic achievements, including graduating from the University of Mississippi as the second African-American graduate and earning a Ph.D. in Latin American History from Cornell University.

Acknowledges his contributions to higher education, including helping establish the first Black Studies Program at Ole Miss and serving as professor and administrator at universities across the nation.

Extends deepest sympathy to his surviving family members and directs that the resolution be presented to his family and the Capitol Press Corps.
