Recognizes Abby Brandenstein, a student at Beach Elementary School in Pascagoula, as the winner of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources art contest themed "Preserving and Enjoying Mississippi's Coastal Resources"

Abby's winning artwork, an impressionistic drawing of a Mississippi Blue Crab, was selected from over 1,500 entries submitted by students from 33 schools in Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson Counties

The winning artwork appears on the cover of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources 2012 Marine Information Calendar and on the August insert

The contest was open to 3rd through 6th grade students and aimed to generate interest in and promote awareness of coastal resources

The resolution directs that copies be presented to Abby and her parents, the principal of Beach Elementary, and the Executive Director of the Department of Marine Resources
