Recognizes and commends Norris Ashley, Mississippi's winningest boys basketball coach, on his retirement after 43 years of coaching.

Ashley finished his career with 1,698 total victories (1,023-484 in boys basketball and 675-374 in girls basketball), surpassing previous record holder Sam Richey's 904-414 wins.

Ashley's accomplishments include nine State Championships (five boys and four girls), one Grand Slam, and recognition as The Clarion-Ledger's Girls Coach of the Year (1994) and Boys Coach of the Year (2010).

Ashley's coaching career began at Coahoma County in 1969 and continued at Ingomar High School for 41 seasons.

Directs that this resolution be presented to Coach Ashley, the Principal of Ingomar High School, the Union County School Board, and the Capitol Press Corps.
