Commends South Pike High School "Eagles" powerlifting team for winning back-to-back Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A State Championships on April 14, 2012.

Team scored 46 points to edge Pontotoc's 44 points, with key contributions from Kentrelle Allen and Chris Brumfield who placed second in their respective weight classes in the final flight.

Junior Chris Pittman won the 148-pound weight class with a three-lift total of 1,340 pounds, setting new 4A state records in squat (540), bench press (235), and dead lift (565).

Corey Pittman (eighth-grader) won the 114-pound class with 780 pounds total, and Desmond Robertson won the 123-pound class with 920 pounds total.

Directs the resolution be presented to South Pike High School's principal and Coach Tyrone Varnado, forwarded to Pike County Board of Education, and made available to Capitol Press Corps.
