Commends the life and legacy of Yvonne Rayford Brown, former Mayor of Tchula and the first African-American Republican female Mayor in Mississippi, who passed away on April 23, 2012.

Brown served as Mayor of Tchula from 2001 through 2009 and held a Bachelor of Science degree from Jackson State University earned in 2007.

Brown served as County Director of the Department of Human Services for Lowndes County at the time of her death and held various positions throughout her career in government, business, and community service.

Brown served on multiple state and local boards including the Keep Mississippi Beautiful Board, Mississippi State Workforce Board, Tchula Library Board, and as Chaplain of the Mississippi Conference of Black Mayors Executive Board.

Extends deepest sympathy to Brown's daughters Nichole and Aliya Barnett, mother Hilda Rayford, sisters LaVonne Rayford Chestang and Gail Rayford Ambeau, and other family and friends.
