MS HB1

Prohibits registered sex offenders whose victims were minors from residing within 1,500 feet of the victim's property, coming within 100 feet of the victim, or contacting the victim or victim's family members without consent.

Requires sheriffs to confirm sex offender residence changes by visiting the address and provide notice to all persons residing within one mile of the offender's residence that a sex offender is in the area.

Requires the Department of Public Safety to notify the appropriate sheriff when a sex offender establishes a new residence, and requires the sheriff or deputy to conduct a residence verification visit.

Mandates that sex offenders personally appear at a Department of Public Safety Driver's License Station at least 10 days before establishing a new residence.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
