Makes it unlawful for law enforcement officers, court officers, and licensed legal professionals employed by the state or political subdivisions to commit illegal acts or professional indiscretion/moral turpitude while performing official duties.

Prohibited conduct includes falsifying evidence, altering transcripts/statements/reports, destroying evidence, failing due diligence in investigations, obstructing justice, staging crime scenes, and tampering with juries.

Requires placement on administrative leave upon good faith report of violation until independent investigation is completed by the governing authority (Mississippi Bureau of Investigation for law enforcement officers).

Establishes that individuals found in violation are guilty of a felony subject to sentencing under Section 99-9-129 plus the maximum penalty for the underlying crime that prompted the illegal action.

Effective date: July 1, 2013.
