Creates Section 99-19-79 of the Mississippi Code to establish enhanced penalties for second or subsequent felony convictions when the original statute does not already provide separate penalties for repeat offenses.

Allows courts discretionary authority to impose imprisonment up to twice the original authorized term for a repeat felony conviction, unless the statute for that specific offense already provides a different penalty for second or subsequent violations.

Applies only to felony offenses with maximum penalties less than death or life imprisonment.

Clarifies that this provision does not limit existing habitual sentencing provisions under Sections 99-19-81 and 99-19-83.

Effective date: July 1, 2013.
