House Bill 1198 Summary

• Amends Section 71-5-355 of the Mississippi Code to prohibit charging unemployment benefits against an employer's experience rating when an employee voluntarily leaves employment to accept other work.

• Adds the phrase "or to accept other work" to the list of conditions under which benefits shall not be charged to an employer's experience-rating record, alongside existing exceptions for voluntary departure without good cause and discharge for misconduct.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
