HB 1418 Summary

• Repeals sections 63-13-1 through 63-13-29 of Mississippi Code, which comprised the entire Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection Law.

• Amends Section 63-7-59 to transfer window tint compliance testing from inspection stations to the Department of Public Safety and eliminates the inspection certificate requirement for tinted windows.

• Adds a $5.00 registration fee to license tag issuance under Section 27-19-43, to be remitted to the Department of Public Safety and deposited in the General Fund.

• Amends Section 37-41-53 to require school bus inspections under regulations promulgated by the State Department of Education rather than state law.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
