Requires all individual and group health insurance policies, service contracts, health maintenance organizations, self-insured arrangements, and managed care entities operating in Mississippi to provide coverage for acupuncture treatment when a physician issues a written order stating the treatment is medically necessary.

Mandates coverage include acupuncture screening examinations and tests, with deductibles and coinsurance not exceeding those for similar benefits and reimbursement rates at least equal to Medicare rates.

Allows plans to require use of participating health care providers unless no appropriate provider is available and accessible, in which case nonparticipating providers may be used at no additional cost to the individual.

Applies to all policies and contracts delivered, issued, continued, or renewed on or after July 1, 2013, with the act taking effect on that date.
