School boards are authorized to employ licensed social workers and licensed psychologists to provide services to public school students, with compensation determined by the school board.

School districts employing at least one social worker or psychologist per 1,000 enrolled students are eligible for 50% reimbursement of salary costs from the State Department of Education.

District superintendents must apply to the State Department of Education for reimbursement using procedures prescribed by the department.

The State Department of Education shall pay 50% of the salary cost for each eligible social worker and psychologist upon receiving an application and required information.

The act takes effect July 1, 2013.
