HB 1501 Summary

• Authorizes issuance of distinctive motor vehicle license tags for supporters of five schools: Bogue Chitto High School, Franklin County High School, Enterprise Attendance Center, Brookhaven High School, and West Lincoln Attendance Center.

• Establishes an additional $30.00 annual fee for distinctive tags, with $2.00 retained by county tax collectors for county general funds.

• Distributes each $30.00 fee as follows: $24.00 to the respective school, $1.00 to Mississippi Burn Care Fund, $2.00 to State Highway Fund, and $1.00 to special fund under Section 27-19-44.2.

• Allows tag owners to surrender tags to county tax collectors if they no longer wish to retain them; replacement tags cost $10.00 with 5% retained by tax collectors.

• Takes effect July 1, 2013.
