MS HB1520

Requires the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to identify areas within state parks for installation of Wi-Fi equipment, subject to approval by the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

Mandates the Commission establish criteria for identifying suitable Wi-Fi installation areas, considering whether land is state-owned in fee simple or leased from the federal government with potential restrictions.

Requires the Commission to affirmatively find and document that Wi-Fi equipment will not be incompatible with the outdoor recreational purposes of the park before approval.

Authorizes the Department to enter into contracts or agreements with service providers for installing, maintaining, and servicing Wi-Fi equipment in state parks, with terms determined by mutual agreement.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
