Persons who become Mississippi state legislators or President of the Senate for the first time on or after July 1, 2013, shall not become members of the Supplemental Legislative Retirement Plan.

Current members of the plan as of July 1, 2013, remain as members but shall not earn any additional creditable service as state legislators or President of the Senate after that date.

Effective through June 30, 2013, state legislators continue to have 3% deducted from compensation and the state continues to pay employer contributions at a rate of 6-1/3% of annual compensation.

Effective July 1, 2013, employee deductions and employer contributions to the Supplemental Legislative Retirement Plan cease.

The act takes effect July 1, 2013.
