Requires all individual and group health insurance policies, service contracts, health maintenance organizations, self-insured arrangements, and managed care entities operating in Mississippi to provide coverage for obesity and morbid obesity treatments when a physician certifies the patient has a body mass index 30% or more above ideal body weight and the treatment is medically necessary.

Mandates coverage include bariatric surgery, gastric bypass, lap band surgery, related prescriptions, and obesity screening examinations and tests.

Prohibits plans from imposing deductibles or coinsurance greater than those for similar benefits; if no similar benefit exists, cost-sharing cannot materially diminish the value of obesity treatment coverage.

Requires health care provider reimbursement for obesity treatment to equal or exceed Medicare (Title XVII Social Security Act) reimbursement rates.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
