Removes the maximum cap on student admissions to the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program, allowing for increased enrollment beyond previous limits.

Establishes a minimum of 15 students to be admitted to the program each year, provided there are at least 15 qualified applicants.

Requires the commission to work with the University of Mississippi Medical Center to provide faculty mentors and develop coursework for scholarship students pursuing family medicine or generalist careers in rural or medically underserved areas of Mississippi.

Maintains existing selection criteria requiring applicants to have academic records and characteristics competitive with the University of Mississippi School of Medicine Admissions Committee standards, approved by majority vote of commission members.

Effective date: July 1, 2013.
