Commends the Pearl High School Pirate Marching Band for winning the 2012 Class 5A State Marching Band Championship for the second consecutive year, also having won in 2007, 2009, and 2011.

Recognizes Band Director Jeff Cannon and his assistants for leading the 168-member band to victory by 1.25 points over Hernando, winning in music, general effect, marching visual, and color guard categories.

Notes the band's program "Unravel" was based on French Composer Maurice Ravel's music and required hundreds of man-hours to perfect the 8.5-minute championship show.

Acknowledges the band's distinction as the only band in state championship history to have finished in the top five every year since competitions began nine years ago, and their performance at the Bands of America competition in St. Louis.

Directs that copies of the resolution be provided to Band Director Jeff Cannon, Pearl High School Principal Dr. Lundy Brantley, the Pearl School District Board of Trustees, and the Capitol Press Corps.
