Congratulates the Mississippi Petrified Forest in Flora on celebrating its 50th anniversary as a natural resource and public attraction.

Recognizes the Mississippi Petrified Forest as the only petrified forest in the eastern United States, formed approximately 36 million years ago.

Honors R.J. "Bob" and Shirl Schabilion for acquiring the forest in 1962 and developing it as a public resource with facilities including nature trails, an earth science museum, gem mining flume, campground, and gift shop.

Notes the forest was designated a National Natural Landmark in October 1965.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Petrified Forest and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
