Commemorates the life and legacy of Mrs. Joan Yvonne Charleston Fleming, who was born July 1, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and died January 28, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois.

Recognizes Mrs. Fleming's career as an educator, including her work as one of the first African Americans to integrate Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and her service as a cheerleading coach and mentor at Cooley High School in Chicago for over 25 years.

Notes her service to the Chicago Board of Health as a health educator and her active involvement in Faith Lutheran Church in Chicago, where she served as Congregation President.

Acknowledges her son, the Honorable Erik R. Fleming, who served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1999 through 2008.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Mrs. Fleming's family and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
