Expands capital murder to include murders committed during a single act, scheme, course of conduct, or criminal episode in which two or more persons are killed.

Expands capital murder to include murders where the perpetrator attempted to kill one or more persons in addition to the person who was killed during the same incident.

Adds a new aggravating circumstance for sentencing that allows consideration of whether the defendant killed two or more persons or attempted to kill additional persons in a single act, scheme, course of conduct, or criminal episode.

Applies to capital murder convictions in Mississippi, requiring unanimous jury findings of aggravating circumstances before imposing a death sentence.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
