Amends Section 45-9-131 of the Mississippi Code to allow the spouse of a municipal or county law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty to purchase one sidearm that was issued to the officer.

Extends an existing provision that previously allowed retiring law enforcement officers to purchase their issued sidearm as personal property to also cover surviving spouses of officers killed in the line of duty.

The governing authority of the municipality or county must approve the purchase and determines the purchase price for the firearm.

The spouse may purchase the sidearm that was issued to the officer by the agency that employed the officer at the time of death.

Takes effect upon passage.
