Senate Bill 2091 Summary

• Allows persons with 30 or more years of creditable service who retired as teachers to continue receiving retirement allowances while working as teachers in public schools, in addition to their teacher salary.

• Permits teachers who complete 30 or more years of creditable service while employed to receive retirement allowances during continued employment as teachers without withdrawing from service.

• Persons receiving retirement allowances while employed as teachers shall not be contributing members of the retirement system and shall not earn additional creditable service during that employment period.

• Requires affected individuals to notify the retirement system executive director of their election to receive benefits during reemployment; if they later leave teaching employment, they must reapply to resume receiving retirement allowances.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
