Repeals Section 37-13-62 of Mississippi Code, which mandates all public schools begin the school year on or after the third Monday in August

Restores full authority to local school boards to determine their own school opening and closing dates

Local school boards must still comply with the minimum number of required school days per scholastic year as prescribed under Section 37-13-63

Local school boards may keep schools in session beyond the minimum required number of days

Takes effect immediately upon passage
