Requires plaintiffs to file an affidavit from a third-party licensed professional within 120 days of filing any professional negligence lawsuit against a licensed or registered professional in Mississippi.

The affidavit must attest that there is reasonable basis in law and fact for allegations of professional negligence and must be from a professional with expertise in the same area of practice as the defendant.

Allows the 120-day filing deadline to be extended if the plaintiff and defendant agree in writing or if the trial court grants an extension for good cause.

Defendants are not required to file an answer until 30 days after the affidavit is filed.

Failure to file the required affidavit may result in dismissal with prejudice of the negligence complaint against the defendant; effective July 1, 2013.
