Senate Bill 2211 Summary

• Division of Medicaid shall not pay out-of-state providers for services to Mississippi Medicaid recipients if those providers are located in an adjoining state that does not allow all Mississippi providers to fully participate in that state's Medicaid program.

• Emergency services and care delivered upon a provider's referral for a higher level of care may be covered at the Division of Medicaid's discretion, regardless of reciprocity restrictions.

• The reciprocity requirement applies to assure equity between the Mississippi Medicaid program and all neighboring states sharing a common border with Mississippi.

• The act takes effect July 1, 2013.
