Removes subsection (8) from Section 49-17-509 of the Mississippi Code, which previously allowed renovations in target housing to be exempt from lead-based paint work practice requirements if the owner signed a statement acknowledging non-compliance.

Eliminates the opt-out provision that permitted renovation firms to skip required work practices in owner-occupied residences without children under age six or pregnant women, and in non-child-occupied facilities.

Requires all lead-based paint activities and renovations to comply with state work practice standards adopted under Sections 49-17-501 through 49-17-531 to align with federal Environmental Protection Agency requirements.

Takes effect upon passage.
