Senate Bill 2852 Summary

• Appropriates $26,039,822.00 from the State General Fund to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning for support of designated institutes, laboratories, and programs for fiscal year 2014 (July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014).

• Appropriates $65,438,836.00 from federal, student fees, and other special source funds to the Board of Trustees for the same institutes, laboratories, and programs for fiscal year 2014.

• Appropriates an additional $150,000.00 to the Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program and $1,499,288.00 to the State Court Education Program from the State Treasury.

• Allocates $175,000.00 of Gulf Coast Research Laboratory funds for Sea Grants matching and establishes that proportional budget reductions will apply to this Sea Grant match if the Governor orders budget reductions.

• Requires the Board of Trustees to report annually to the Legislature on institutional compliance with deficit spending prohibitions and prohibits use of appropriated funds for research involving killing or destruction of human embryos.
