Commends and congratulates Christie Stricker for being selected as the 2012 State Games of Mississippi AT&T Female Athlete of the Year.

Christie Stricker, a 16-year-old from Hattiesburg, won eight medals (six gold and two silver) competing in track and field, 5K, cross-country, cycling, and powerlifting.

Stricker became the first member of her family to complete a full marathon and holds the state powerlifting title for her age and weight class.

Recognition honors Stricker as a role model for balanced and healthy lifestyle, noting her excellence in athletics while maintaining academic performance and competing in high school sports.

Stricker will visit the State Capitol to receive recognition from the Governor and have the honor of lighting the torch at the 2013 Opening Ceremonies.
