Commends and congratulates the Pearl High School "Pirate" Marching Band for winning the 2012 Class 5A State Marching Band Championship for the second consecutive year and fourth title since 2007.

Notes the band defeated Hernando by 1.25 points in the competition and won in music, general effect, marching visual, and color guard categories.

Recognizes the 168-member band's performance titled "Unravel" based on French composer Maurice Ravel's music, which took hundreds of man-hours to perfect.

Acknowledges Band Director Jeff Cannon and his assistant directors (Matt Rowan, Aimee Sudduth, Amye Rowan, Matt Little, and Jason Harrell) for their work with the students.

Directs the resolution be presented to Band Director Jeff Cannon, Pearl High School Principal Dr. Lundy Brantley, and the Pearl School District Board of Trustees.
