Joshua Prochaska, a 7th grader at Veritas Classical School in Senatobia, Mississippi, was named Mississippi's Top Youth Volunteer of 2013 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.

Prochaska organized and funded the installation of a new tile floor in the meeting room at Senatobia Public Library, recruiting friends, family, Boy Scouts and a tile craftsman to complete the 922-square-foot project.

As a State Honoree, Prochaska receives $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. in May where 10 students will be named America's Top Youth Volunteers of 2013.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is an 18-year-old nationwide program presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals that honors young volunteers for outstanding community service.

The Senate and House commend and congratulate Joshua Prochaska for his outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership and community spirit.
