Pays tribute to Woody Barnett for 36 years of service with the Pearl Public School District as track and cross-country coach and athletic director, retiring in June 2013.

Barnett's coaching teams won 43 State Championships during his tenure, and he was named Mississippi Track or Cross-Country Coach of the Year 11 times and inducted into the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008.

As Athletic Director, Barnett oversaw major upgrades to athletic facilities including artificial football field surface, new baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and a track that hosts the State Track Meets.

Received National Boys Cross-Country Coach of the Year award in 2004, Pillar of the Community award from Pearl Chamber of Commerce in 2012, and Athletic Director of the Year in 2012.

Transition plan established with his son Chris Barnett hired to coach Boys Cross-Country and Track Teams, George Kersh as Girls Coach, and Richard Smithhart as new Athletic Director.
